Robert Pattinson Talks Cosmopolis,Fav Line,Best/Worst Moments+More w/Interview Germany

His fans stood here when Robert Pattinson came a few weeks ago to Berlin. The actor wasn't here to promote his role as a vampire in "Twilight", but David Cronenberg's film adaptation of Don DeLillo, "Cosmopolis". We spoke to the English man about his old and new roles as well as his best and worst moments in the last year. Interview: Mr. Pattinson, your hair is long again. Last time, you had a crew cut. Did you cut your hair for Bel Ami or for Cosmopolis? Robert Pattinson: Neither. That was for a movie where I play the soldier who found Saddam Hussein. The shooting should begin in the spring, but was postponed to the the Fall.=== Interview: You're leaving your roles in the fantasy field to be more realistic. Do you agree with that? Pattinson: You have to have, as an actor, just good luck, to get roles and if I may play a role, I take it. You should be really realistic, which is either random or it is subconscious.=== Interview: Tn front of the film theater - Kino International - here in Berlin, the loyal fans have been camping since yesterday to celebrate the "Cosmopolis" Premiere tonight. Have you ever wondered whether you could scare them with roles like this? Your fans might want to prefer to see Edward Cullen, the vampire, rather than Eric Packer, the stock market millionaire with an identity crisis? Pattinson: I don't think so. Since I was shooting "Bel Ami", something curious happened! My fans give me their favorite books. Yesterday when I was in Paris and there were evenings at some premieres where people in line gave me books too. That's incredible, isn't?=== Interview: Do you look forward to these books? And you really take all along?/Do you take them all with you? Pattinson: Yes, of course, because there were really excellent books among them. Including one by Lawrence Ferlinghetti.=== Interview: Do you hope that your fans learn something when they watch your film adaptations? Pattinson: If my films can inspire just one among hundreds, it's book to read and to deal with another issue in-depth, it would be really wonderful. Cinema can be more than just pure entertainment. At least sometimes.== Interview: Did you say so that you no longer want to star in teen movies? I read that. Pattinson: Yes, I've read that too. Someone must have misunderstood me, or didn't express myself well. Who says that "Cosmopolis" is not a film for young people? If a movie with a sex scene or with violence exists, then the film is now classified as an adult film, no matter what is in there. These categories are completely absurd. No, I would never say such a thing really!== Interview: But "Cosmopolis" is really not a film for young teenagers, right? Pattinson: Well, I wasn't shocked very easily when I was a teenager. And let's be honest: Every young person today watches hardcore porn and has seen much grosser things than in our film.=== Interview: Yes that's right. With "Cosmopolis", parents have nothing to fear. All of the "Twilight" fans can then be sent safely to the movies! Pattinson: Unless the parents are opposed to dialogue. If they think, "Oh no, I do not want my child to get involved in so many words!" then you should probably save them from our movie! (laughs) == Interview: If we're on the subject of ratings, you are naked in a lot of your movies. Pattinson: Yes. That's true actually.== Interview: How do you feel when you need to undress on the set? Pattinson: I'm English. I'm more insecure than any other. Everyone is always totally relaxed on set, even with nude scenes. I'm always terribly tense and anxious.=== Interview: It doesn't get any better? Pattinson: If I trust the director or necessarily want the film to be good, it becomes easier. But if that is not the case, I feel like a prostitute. (laughs) Interview: You've had an exciting year behind. What were the best and worst experience? Pattinson: Phew ... hm ... There were a lot of both. I would say that when our film was accepted at Cannes, was certainly one of the best moments. I am very grateful. You know, I was hoping that I would have a film in competition, perhaps in the next ten years. And this happened exactly at a time and now. Absolute madness.=== Interview: That means you had a career plan, which lead you directly to Cannes? Pattinson: Oh, you know, journalists have been asking me since the first "Twilight" whether I would be afraid to be cast only as a particular type. And then comes the first film I did after the Twilight series and it turns immediately to be in competition at Cannes. This has totally overwhelmed me.=== Interview: And how did you find yourself in your first non-vampire role? Pattinson: I love the movie. I think that is my best work. I have previously always felt uncomfortable when I saw myself on screen. Here it was the other way around.=== Interview: What did you like best in your role? Pattinson: It may sound a bit weird, but I like the sounds of the words, if you pronounce it. The language, the sentences how they are arranged - everything is beautiful.=== Interview: What sentence did you like most? Pattinson: "That's my peanuts you smell," I think it's great. "I believe my sexual organ is retreating into my body right now." is also very great and absurd.=== Interview: Now that we've talked about the best moment. What was the worst? Pattinson: My dog got sick. That was very bad (laughs). So, really bad! But he is feeling better. Source: Interview and translation by RPLife
